SEO & Content : A Perfect Marketing Strategy

Clients and marketing managers are always trying to look for the best solutions for their SEO campaigns. Unfortunately, SEO does not work as simply as an on-off switch. A website needs to be analysed to identify all the possible issues that cause an SEO error and based on my experience, more than 70% of my client’s websites struggle with thin content. Fortunately, we at Move Ahead Media are experts in our field and would like to help our readers know the importance of good, quality content.

Content as a primary component

According to Rabo, there are 3 types of SEO: Technical, On-Page, and Off-Page. On-Page SEO is all about contents available on the website, including Title Tags, Headings, Meta Description, URL Structure, Alt Text for Images, and Internal Links. These elements should be the primary concern for both clients and SEO professionals.

There are different kinds of content as well such as video, infographic, images and text content. Text content is usually the least concern when it comes to on-page content because readers believe that infographics, images and banners are sufficient for their page. This might be true for satisfied website users, but it is not the case from a search engine’s perspective.

To understand and index on a page, a search engine such as Google needs to crawl a web page to understand every component of its code. Since banners and infographics do not contain any text content, search engines would be impossible to understand any information included in the image files.

These are the reasons why content (text content) is considered to be very important in any SEO strategy.

Improve the coherence and logic on the website structure

As content is planned and published on your website, your website may need to restructure or adjust accordingly. A marketing strategy should not be a one-time thing. It is possible that your products or services may develop over time, and it needs that strategy to adjust and incorporate a new landing or category page to inform users and search engines to be aware of those products. Once all of the relevant pages are built and indexed properly on search engines, it would help search engines better understand your website’s architecture and eventually rank the website in a higher position on SERPs.

Targeted keywords are the key to success.

I’ve experienced queries from several clients who misunderstood the importance of content and targeted keywords. They simply ask me whether optimising their Page Titles, Headers, and Meta Descriptions would be enough to rank better on SERPs. Adding targeted keywords to the metatag would indeed help in terms of ranking but it would not be enough to help these pages rank on the first page of a search engine such as Google. Adding targeted keywords into relevant content to these pages would give a significant boost to the ranking performance. According to Quicksprout, high-quality content can create and spread content to attract traffic, which will affect the ranking factor and could increase your website’s position.
